Nicklas Bendtner spent over 5 seasons performing at the Emirates Stadium but the Danish attacker could never really cement his spot in the starting lineup of Arsene Wenger. He did manage to get into the main team of Wenger during his 3 opening seasons with the Premier League club but after new players were being signed and with the performances of Bendtner just not being good enough, he started falling down in the pecking order of the squad and was even offloaded to a number of different clubs including: Juventus, Sunderland and Birmingham City with the objective that the Danish player could gain experience outside of Arsenal and hopefully make his return to the Emirates Stadium as a more experienced and knowledge player but he was eventually sold to the German side Wolfsburg.
The Danish player was able to score 24 goals in 106 appearances for Arsenal and joined Wolfsburg with a transfer that was completed on August 15 of the ongoing year.
There were a number of occasions and instances when Bendtner had to settle with a place on the sidelines of Arsenal as he was constantly being overshadowed and overlooked by other players. When Bendtner’s move from Arsenal to Wolfsburg, the Danish attacker did not hesitate in speaking and saying that he wasted his last career at the Emirates Stadium.
‘’I played regularly for Juventus until I got injured. At Arsenal I barely played. My last year was wasted there. The previous year I was loaned to Juve. It went well there. I played regularly, and I was fit. Then I got injured and had to miss the next six months. We were champions, I wanted to stay. But Arsenal took me back. I wasted a year there. That annoys me the most." Bendtner said as the Danish claimed that he wasted his last season as a player of Arsenal.
