Ozil was not available for the beginning of the season as he was assisting the Metropolitan Police in solving the car-jacking incident involving him and Sead Kolasinac. Thereafter, Ozil was excluded from a few matchday squads due to fitness concerns but it has now become quite clear that the midfielder has dropped down the selection order under Emery.

Ozil has featured in just one Premier League game this term and that came during the 2-2 draw against Watford on the road. His only other appearance was during the 5-0 thumping of Nottingham Forest in the League Cup third round after which he has been excluded from three matchday squads on the bounce.

Arsenal have an away game at Sheffield United after the international break and Ozil may not feature, considering Emery has barely chosen him for the away matches over the past year. The Gunners are presently third on the table with 15 points.
