Rosenborg striker Nicklas Bendtner has laughed off rumours that he is also headed to China. The Chinese Super League used to lure almost retired or retired European superstars with big money deals. They needed them for publicity and for their talents. However, recently there has been a shift to younger, talented players since they pay top of the pack wages.
There have been rumours that Chinese club Beijing Guoan wants the 30-year old Bendtner just before their transfer window closes. The former Arsenal and Nottingham Forest man has come out to deny the claims.
“I have always said that I will stay in Rosenborg this season and it has not changed. There have been many speculations. I have talked too many, but it has not been interesting to me. My goal is to be here for the next three months minimum until the World Cup,” the player said.
He promised that he will do “a good job” in Russia and then see what happens afterwards. The Danish forward has seen his career alive when he moved to Norway last March. He scored 22 goals in 41 games since leaving Nottingham, helping them lift the title and finish the league as the highest goalscorer. He fought his way to the Denmark national team and is set to prove himself at the World cup this summer.
Bar any major development, Bendtner is expected to make Age Hareide’s final squad. If he impresses at the World Cup, he hopes to use that platform to get a good deal from a decent side.
