Danish striker Nicklas Bendtner is attracting buzz in the transfer market after his impressive season in the Norway. The former Arsenal and Nottingham Forest man helped his side Rosenborg to a title win, scoring 22 goals in 41 games in all competitions.
He joined the Rosenborg in March after leaving the Reds. The 29-year old’s 19 goals in 29 league games pushed the club to victory. He also earned a recall to the Denmark national team. He joined up with the rest of the team and they qualified for the World Cup in Russia. All these made clubs to show interest in the forgotten player.
The sporting director of Rosenborg Stig Inge has confirmed that several clubs are open to the idea of signing the player. However, Inge added that the club does not have any intention of selling Bendtner. The director said the club ordinarily does not involve in talks as these so as not to fuel speculations but the club is making an exception to reveal that both parties are content with the player remaining at the club.
“We know there is great interest. We all know so we are quite calm around. We are planning to be here next season. From day one, there has been a lot of interest in Nicklas Bendtner. It has not changed but that is something we are quite happy about,” he added.
The player was thought to be hanging up his boots but he has turned around his fortunes and done decently for himself, even if it is far away from where he would have loved to show exploits. He is still dragged online in the UK but many others commend him for making something of himself elsewhere.
