Host of the 2016 Olympic Games, Brazil are set to meet Denmark in the final group game of the men’s event.
The team started the tournament as the favourites, especially after excluding superstar player Neymar from the Copa America so he would feature at the event. Brazil have never won a gold medal at the Olympics, and they hope to change it on home soil. The performance of the team has been below par and threat of losing remains as the games continue. The group comprises of Iraq, Denmark and South Africa, aside the host.
Brazil play Denmark on Thursday, August 11 at Fonte Nova Arena, Salvador. Denmark already have four points, after defeating south Africa and playing a draw with Iraq. The host have two points, playing a draw in their two games so far.
Fans were rife as the last game ended as the team didn’t put up a performance that depicted likely winners. If Iraq defeats South Africa, they would have a big chance at making the quarter finals ahead of Brazil, depending on the score line when they play Denmark. The tournament looks like one with more surprises going by a few score lines at the group stage already. The quarter finals are due to continue on the 13th of August after the final round of games at the group stage of the tournament. The final would come up on the 20th at the Maracana, Rio.
